What is included in the trip?

OLLI trips include:

• Most meals (some free meals may be included in the itinerary)
• A curated selection of boutique hotels (hotels may vary in more remote locales. All published rates are double occupancy, additional charges will be required for single occupancy rooms.)
• An active schedule of daily cultural activities and purposeful experiences
• A local guide who is by your side the entire trip
• An expert faculty lead who will lend expertise and provide an enriched curriculum
• All transportation in-country including airport transfers
• Medical Insurance/ Medical Evacuation Insurance
• Access to a Travel Specialist throughout your trip planning and preparation

What’s not included in the trip?

Discover Corps trips include everything on the ground. Here is a list of what is not included:

• International Airfare – For your flights to and from the destination, our travel partner can book flights on your behalf and are aware of our flight arrival and departure windows. Feel free to contact them via this link for quotes. Alternatively, you can book your own travel and utilize rewards points or travel credit. More information will be provided through the Discover Corps Travel Portal after booking.
• Any applicable Visas – For visas, Discover Corps works with providers that can help you arrange visas to destinations that require them.
• Travel insurance – Additional travel insurance can be purchased via our partners at Arch Roamright Travel Insurance.
• Internal flight supplements – in certain destinations that have internal domestic flights
• Guide and driver gratuity
• Some meals throughout the itineraries

What is the cancellation policy for trips?

The amount of your refund is based on how far in advance from the start date of the trip you notify us of your cancellation.

• More than five months prior, everything is refundable!
• Less than five months prior, 75% of the trip fee is refundable, except a non-refundable $30 booking fee. There is no fee to change trip destination or start date.
• Less than four months prior, 50% of the trip fee is refundable, except a non-refundable $30 booking fee. There is a $100 fee to change trip destination or start date.
• Less than three months prior, 25% of the trip fee is refundable, except a non-refundable $30 booking fee. There is a $395 fee to change the trip destination or start date.
• Less than two months prior, the trip fee is non-refundable. Changes to trip destination or start date are not possible and will be subject to the refund policy above.

How physically active are these trips?

Each trip differs with regards to the physical activity level and will be noted specifically in the itinerary of the trip. In general, we expect travelers to be able to walk at least 1 mile per day on uneven ground. We do our best to ensure that these experiences are accessible for a wide range of ages and abilities. Can I invite my friends and family to join a trip?

Trips are open to OLLI members only. You must provide proof of a current OLLI Membership to make a deposit and reserve a spot for the trip. Proof of current OLLI membership can be a copy of your OLLI membership card or an email from Tracy Grewe confirming your membership is active. How do flights work? What about travel insurance?

The Discover Corps trip fee does not include international airfare to and from the destination. After registering for your trip, your Travel Coordinator will outline the arrival and departure airports and windows for the destination. This is typically a timeframe on the first and last days of the trip. You can then book your flights independently (ie – using miles) or contact our partners at Wings Travel. Travel insurance is optional. Your Travel Coordinator will be by your side to help you navigate this.

What kind of accommodations can I expect to stay in?

Nearly all of our itineraries include a portfolio of boutique hotels, most in the 4-5 star range. Certain, more remote locales may vary with 3-star levels of accommodation – please see the individual itineraries for more information. Published trip fees are for double occupancy rooming (shared with a travel companion or we will place you with someone of the same gender). Single room supplements are available at an additional charge for each trip.

What is Discover Corps policy around single room supplements?

All of Discover Corps’ published trip prices are based on double occupancy rooms. We can room you with another traveler of the same gender for no additional cost. If we are unable to locate a roommate for you, we will not charge you any additional (Single room supplement) fee! If you prefer a private room, you must pay the single room supplement.

Are all diets accommodated?

We can accommodate any dietary requests such as vegetarian, vegan, and lactose- free. We can also accommodate any severe allergy restrictions and can match you to a specific destination based on your dietary needs. Upon registration, we will have you complete a pre-departure waiver where you can elaborate on any allergies or preferences prior to travel.

Are vaccines required for travel?

Currently, Kenya is the only country that requires the Yellow Fever Vaccine to enter. Once you book, your dedicated Travel Specialist will guide you through the pre-departure process offering important requirements and reminders. You can also locate these important travel requirements via the Travel Portal.

What is Discover Corps policy in terms of health and safety?

Discover Corps prioritizes the health and safety all of our travelers. We employ resident, knowledgeable guides with extensive experience in the locales we visit and who understand the customs and local social and political climate. We vet the accommodations and organizations we work with to help support safety and quality control. In all destinations, we will have access to medical personnel within a 45 minute radius. En route to a destination, we offer a 24-hour emergency line to facilitate streamlined communication should any issues arise during travel.
